Terms and conditions

This page is a working draft of the terms and conditions for this platform, structured around the sections the product specification requires (PRD §5.16). It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and must not be treated as final or binding until it has been. Do not publish this page without legal sign-off.

This platform is operated by the Oorvani Foundation. By using this platform, you agree to these terms.

Acceptable use

  • Use this platform to find ward-level election information, engage with candidate data, and participate in issue voting and error-flagging as intended.
  • Do not attempt to submit false information, impersonate another person or organisation, or misuse the flagging or issue-voting mechanisms to disrupt or mislead other users.
  • Do not attempt to circumvent rate limits, automated abuse protections, or access controls.

Contribution licensing

When you flag a possible error or cast a vote on a ward issue, you grant the platform a licence to record, publish, and display that contribution (or its aggregate result) as part of the platform's public record, consistent with how each feature is described elsewhere on the platform:

  • Flags are used internally to review and correct data; the fact that a field was corrected may be reflected in the public audit trail, without attributing the correction to you by name.
  • Issue votes are published only in aggregate — as a ranked order with percentage shares — never as an individually attributed vote.

Accuracy and liability disclaimers

Candidate and ward information on this platform is sourced primarily from official sworn affidavits and other public records, and is provided for citizen information only. While we take reasonable care to source, verify, and correct this information, we do not guarantee it is complete, current, or error-free at every moment, and it should not be treated as a substitute for official Election Commission records for any legal or electoral purpose.

For anything affecting your ability to vote — registration status, voter ID, polling booth assignment — always confirm through the official Election Commission / Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka channels linked from this platform.

Account termination

We may suspend or terminate a registered account, including a curator or admin account, where a user:

  • Submits knowingly false information, or repeatedly misuses the flagging or issue-voting mechanisms.
  • Violates the acceptable-use terms above.
  • Abuses curator publish-immediately trust (for curator/admin accounts specifically).

This is consistent with the administrative ban capability described in the platform's access model.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected with an updated date on this page.
